It Might be Spoiled&#8230; Learn from Adam Dachis&#8217; mistake."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was listening to the<a href=\"http:\/\/lifehacker.com\/podcast\"> Ask Lifehacker podcast<\/a> last week, and after I stopped laughing, I said&#8230; Hmmm, that&#8217;s pretty cool. \u00a0Now let me preface that by saying that I do that a lot during that podcast. \u00a0These guys are fun, and interesting, and frequently dig up things that I really can use. \u00a0 \u00a0The <a href=\"http:\/\/lifehacker.com\/\">lifehacker <\/a>site is also awesome&#8230; But this article is less about the Ask Lifehacker podcast, and more about the solution for Adam Dachis and his predicament&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"lifehacker podcast 9.26.2013\" href=\"http:\/\/lifehacker.com\/smartphone-upgrades-office-productivity-and-the-lapto-1405300681\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-69 alignright\" alt=\"lifehacker_Whitson_Dachis\" src=\"http:\/\/interestingcool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/lifehacker_Whitson_Dachis-300x184.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"http:\/\/interestingcool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/lifehacker_Whitson_Dachis-300x184.png 300w, http:\/\/interestingcool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/lifehacker_Whitson_Dachis-624x383.png 624w, http:\/\/interestingcool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/lifehacker_Whitson_Dachis.png 645w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To paraphrase, Dachis was passing out frequently, often incoherent, and probably damaged his permanent memory during the past week. \u00a0Sounds serious, doesn&#8217;t it? \u00a0And yes, in fact it is s<span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">erious, however, my dark sense of humor erupted when he said <\/span><em style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">why<\/em><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> he was not feeling well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dachis had been eating expired vegetables because he was too lazy to go to the grocery store, or order a grocery delivery. \u00a0The problem was&#8230; It was NOT good food. \u00a0They had passed from being nutritious into the wonderful world of poisonous&#8230; \u00a0Hmmm, when I write this it doesn&#8217;t sound funny. \u00a0I think hearing him talk about it, and Whitson Gordon reminding him several times of his poor choices are what fired my humor. \u00a0It was funny&#8230; Really!<\/p>\n<p>On a serious note, I tend to be v<span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">ery paranoid about certain foods, and more lax on others. \u00a0But as pointed out by Dachis, there is a solution to guessing which foods are ok and which ones aren&#8217;t. \u00a0<\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.stilltasty.com\/\">http:\/\/www.stilltasty.com\/<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">\u00a0is a site which has a huge database of food safety rules for shelf life of food. \u00a0There is also an iPhone app as well, so you can access the data from almost anywhere (An<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; line-height: 1.714285714;\">droid users, you&#8217;ll have to use the web<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; line-height: 1.714285714;\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-70\" style=\"font-size: 1rem; line-height: 1;\" alt=\"StillTasty Your Ultimate Shelf Life Guide\" src=\"http:\/\/interestingcool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/StillTasty-Your-Ultimate-Shelf-Life-Guide.png\" width=\"238\" height=\"84\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">From <\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\" title=\"Stilltasty.com Opened Anchovies\" href=\"http:\/\/www.stilltasty.com\/fooditems\/index\/18769\" target=\"_blank\">opened anchovies<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> to <\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\" title=\"Stilltasty.com Vodka\" href=\"http:\/\/www.stilltasty.com\/fooditems\/index\/18652\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0vodka<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">, you can tell when to pitch it, how to store it saf<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; line-height: 1.714285714;\">ely, and other extremely helpful tidbits. \u00a0There are also articles which discuss things like expiration dates and best by dates, unexpected things you can freeze, and foods that can be stored and kept viable forever (well, almost).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In Closing, Dachis, if you read this&#8230; I hope that you take up composting in the future instead of eating dicey vegetables!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>-30-<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was listening to the Ask Lifehacker podcast last week, and after I stopped laughing, I said&#8230; Hmmm, that&#8217;s pretty cool. \u00a0Now let me preface that by saying that I do that a lot during that podcast. \u00a0These guys are fun, and interesting, and frequently dig up things that I really can use. \u00a0 \u00a0The &hellip; <a href=\"http:\/\/interestingcool.com\/?p=67\" class=\"more-link\">Continue reading <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Food making you pass out?
